Promoting SustainableDevelopment – SDG 12
SEGINUS was recognized by the UN Global Compact as a best practice example for Sustainable Development Goal 12: “Encouraging companies of all sizes in the automotive sector to adopt sustainable practices in compliance with environmental regulations.”
The evaluation was conducted by an international committee of 25 sustainability experts from across Latin America.
Recircle Awards – Best Business Innovation Award
The Recircle Awards are a global recognition established in 2020 to honor excellence in tire retreading and recycling through circular economy practices. Winners receive recognition in their home country and company.
Thanks to its successful circular economy model, SEGINUS was selected from over 1,000 projects as the winner in the Best Business Innovation Award category, after competing as a finalist alongside leading recycling and retreading companies worldwide.
Best EPR Scheme
SEGINUS was chosen as the winner of the Best EPR Scheme category, competing with four prestigious international tire management systems: Ecopneus (Italy), SDAB (Sweden), Tyre Stewardship (Australia), and Signus Ecovalor (Spain).
This recognition reinforces SEGINUS’s commitment to driving innovative actions that foster sustainability. The award is a shared achievement of all actors in the tire value chain—importers, local manufacturers, retailers, and sales points—who contribute to a more sustainable Ecuador.
Circular Challenges Awards
To promote circular economy models, the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries (MPCEIP), the German Cooperation (GIZ), and the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Development of Research and Academia (CEDIA) launched a national initiative for diagnosing, supporting, and disseminating circular economy solutions.
SEGINUS was honored as the winner in two categories:
- Best Circular Practice in Large Companies
- Circular Award
On July 28th, SEGINUS participated in the awards ceremony held at the University of the Americas in Quito, alongside the Vice Minister of MPCEIP, Alfonso Abdo, and other officials. Our work in the proper management and traceability of used tire collection, transportation, and reuse was formally recognized.
